Republicans in Colleton County will be going to the polls to vote for 14th Circuit Solicitor.  Whoever wins in the primary will be the solicitor, as there is no Democratic opposition.
One of the candidates, Duffie Stone, who is the incumbent, spoke at the Colleton County Republican meeting held Thursday April 7 at the Colleton County Memorial Library.  Stone has a “Meet and Greet” scheduled for Thursday April 21 from 4:30-6:30pm at the Double Bogey Restaurant at the Dogwood Hills Golf Club.
Sheriff  R.A. “Andy” Strickland also addressed the group.  Strickland will be running for sheriff on the Republican ticket with no opposition, but will face Democratic opposition in the November General Election.  rep.1 copy rep.stone1 copy
Dan Lawrence, running for House #90 (Bamberg, Barnwell, and Colleton), and James Broderick, running for House #121, also addressed the group.  Broderick and Lawrence do not have Republican opposition in the primary, but face opponents in November.
Dr. Joe Flowers is the nominee for County Council with no opposition from either party.
Colleton delegates will attend the 6th District Convention in Manning April 23. The eight delegates will also attend the May 7 State Convention in Columbia.
At both the district and state conventions, delegates for the National Republican Convention will be elected.
The next local meeting will be in June after the primary.
