A woman and four children were transported to Colleton Medical Center after a minivan ran into the 100 building at Lincoln Apartments, located at 404 Witsell St.

Walterboro police and Colleton County Fire-Rescue paramedics were called to the apartment complex April 10 at 1:47 p.m. after callers informed emergency dispatchers that the woman and children were trapped in the van. Walterboro police officers were first on the scene, determining that no one was trapped. Paramedics began treating the injured and requested a second unit due to the number of patients.

The van received moderate damage; the building had fairly heavy damage to a least one lower apartment and the unit above it. A brick veneer wall fell on the van and littered the parking lot with bricks.

The woman and one child were transported by one ambulance, and a second ambulance transported the remaining three children. None of the occupants of the vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries.
