Walterboro police are continuing their investigation into a Monday evening armed robbery.
Officers responded to the Dollar General at 779 Robertson Blvd. Monday at 9:46 p.m. after receiving reports of two masked gunmen robbing the business. A clerk told police that two unknown black males, both wearing face masks, entered the business armed with an assault rifle and a handgun, and demanded money from the employees.
After obtaining an undetermined amount of cash from the register and safe, the two gunmen fled on foot.
Officers at the scene requested a canine team. The dog tracked the suspects to a nearby parking lot before the scent was lost.
Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Walterboro Police Department at 843-549-1811.
