Walterboro Police Department issues update on remains found on Moore Street

On April 10, 2024, was notified of a possible missing female. WPD officers gathered information and began interviewing people known to be in the company of the missing woman. Their investigation led them to the 200 block of Moore Street. While conducting a canvass of the area, officers were met with a foul odor of possible decomposition emitting from an abandoned building. Further investigation revealed an unidentified female who had been placed in a suitcase. Administration was notified as well as SLED. At this time the female has not be positively identified. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week. This investigation is ongoing.

On April 11,2024, an autopsy was performed at M.U.S.C. on the body found in the suitcase, results are pending. The victim was positively identified as Victoria Jean Beach. She was a thirty two year old white female from Walterboro. Officers and investigators from the Walterboro Police Department have been following up on leads related to the case. It is still early in this investigation and additional information will be disseminated as it becomes available.
