Spotlight - Tammy Breland

Posted

This week’s Spotlight is on Tammy Breland owner of Bountiful Blessings Gift Shop. Breland is from Walterboro but lives in Ruffin with her husband Melvin, they have 2 grown daughters and four grandchildren. My oldest daughter has three sons, and my youngest daughter has one girl. They are also raising her husband’s nephew.

Tammy is a 1982 graduate of Walterboro High School and went to college at Denmark Technical College for barbering. She worked a barber for 37 years starting at the Beaufort Marine Corps Air Station and the Marine Corp Recruit Depot Parris Island and later opened her own shop, Tammy’s Inspirational Barber Shop here is Walterboro before leaving for Atlanta for 5 years.

After getting re-married 2018 her husband told me that I didn’t have to work anymore. She had always wanted to own an Inspirational Gift Shop, so she opened her first shop on Main Street in Walterboro. After deciding to leave Main Street she opened her current store 6 years ago in Planters Trace Shopping Center on Highway 64 across from Ace Hardware.

Bountiful Blessings has a great selection of items. They have Bibles, inspirational reading for adults and children, journals, magnets and a selection of inspirational music. They also offer sports paraphernalia, college and professional. Church products are also available like bulletins and church envelopes and other church items.

When she is not at the store, she enjoys attending church at Lively Stone Temple in Islandton and spending time with family.

When asked where she would like to see herself in five years, she says, “I really want Bountiful Blessings to be a household name. I want people to come in and look for gifts, for whatever reason, whether it’s weddings anniversary for church, for babies, or you know for just for anything.

When asked what she would like to do if money was no object she would like to travel and spend time with family.
