Governor Henry McMaster’s Executive Order 2024-07, appointed Patricia Grant, former Clerk of Court for Colleton County, to serve in that capacity once more. The appointment came after the resignation of Becky Hill. Grant served as Clerk of Court for 20 years and retired in 2020. Effective immediately, Grant will serve as clerk until the election or “until a successor otherwise qualifies as provided by law.” South Carolina state law allows the governor to appoint a “suitable person” to serve as Clerk of Court.
