A multi-vehicle collision blocked Cottageville Hwy for two hours Wednesday morning March 14th. The accident occurred at the intersection at Indian Oaks Lane. A pickup truck pulling a trailer was parked on the south bound shoulder, partially in the roadway. A south bound Chevrolet Trailblazer collided with the trailer causing the small SUV to enter the oncoming lane where it was immediately struck in the driver’s side by a northbound log truck. The restrained adult male driver was trapped in the wreckage of the SUV. The log truck, which was not loaded with logs, came to a stop blocking both lanes of traffic. Colleton County Fire-Rescue arrived to find the entire highway was blocked. They began treating the injured patients and requested an additional Fire-Rescue ambulance. Crews used extraction tools to remove the driver. He was treated at the scene, then transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. One motorist person was treated at the scene. Traffic was rerouted during the incident. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
