Interim Superintendent's Corner

Greeting Team Colleton,

Wow! It is hard to believe that we are already at the midpoint of the 3rd quarter! At the beginning of this semester, I challenged you to keep the momentum going in order to change our ending. I encourage each of you to help write a new ending to our story by cultivating victory for our students and our community! I have watched you all step up to the plate and work hard to make it happen!

Our Winter i-ready Diagnostic data shows that our students are making growth! Compared to this time last year, our students have increased the percentage of students on grad level by 8% in reading and 4% in math while reducing the percentages of students 3 or more grade levels below by 8% in both reading and math. When looking at the data for Winter 2022-2023 and Winter 2023-2024, four of the nine grade levels had an increase of at least 10% for students meeting half of their typical and stretch growth. In addition, our graduation rate is increasing!

Although there have been challenges along the way, we have met those challenges with determination and a commitment to success. I am reminded of a quote by Albert Einstein that states “You never fail until you stop trying.” I call this perseverance. We must persevere until the very end of the 2023-2024 school year.

Thank you for your sacrifices; thank you for going the extra mile to help a students; thank you for believing in each and every one of our students and being a difference maker in their lives!

I continue to challenge you TEAM Colleton to stay focused, continue to think forward, and always be purpose-driven because success is not always easily acquired. Actually, when we put in the hard work, we truly appreciate the end goals! With this in mind, I urge you to continue working toward our goal of creating the best ending possible!

I will be visiting each school very soon to provide an update on our progress. I look forward to seeing you at this meeting.

Remember, unequivocally “It’s All About the Kids! The Time is Now!

Sincerely,

Jessica F. Williams, Interim Superintendent
