Donald Ray Hill, 66, of Walterboro, passed away at his residence Sunday, April 28, 2024, surrounded by his family. Ray was born May 20, 1957, in El Paso, Texas to the late Geneva Singletary Rudd and Johnny Hill. He worked for J.H. Hiers Construction Company for many years and was known by his CB Handle as “Fat Cat”. Ray is survived by his wife, Debbie of Walterboro; sons, Richard Hill of Tennessee, and Chris Hill; a sister, Carol Rudd of Ridgeville; three brothers, Darrell Rudd and his wife Gloria of Cross, Ronnie Hill, and Keith Hill; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Alline Fairburn of Odenville, Alabama. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette Hill; his daughter, Cherry Hill; his stepfather, Sonny Rudd; and a special aunt and uncle who helped raise him, Dezilee and Johnson Singletary. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Edisto Home Care & Hospice.
