Fifth Grade students from Bells Elementary, Forest Hills Elementary, Hendersonville Elementary, and Northside Elementary gathered at the Ace Basin Sports Complex to compete in the Second Annual 5th Grade Kickball Tournament. The teams along with cheer squads, fans, teachers, and even the Big Blue Jazz Band from Colleton County High School came out on Wednesday April 17. The weather was perfect, and everyone had a great time.

Wayne Alston, Director of Athletics for the Colleton County School District said everyone is excited about the tournament, “The participation all is awesome. Everybody’s really excited about the tournament. Last year we had a championship belt that we presented to the winning school and now everybody wants to take it home.” Alston adds, “It also gives the schools the opportunity for the kids to come out and meet each other.”

Bells Elementary took top honors and the coveted belt in the 5th Grade Kickball Tournament. They are champions for the 2nd year in a row. The Forest Hills Elementary Cougar Cubs came in 2nd place. Alston said, “We are super proud of the way our 5th Graders represented each school! Thank you to all the volunteers from the Athletics Department & The Band of Blue for the support of this event.”
