Colleton Museum and Farmers Market visitors will have a chance to become amateur paleontologists on May 30.
Ashby Gale, a paleontologist and owner of Charleston Fossil Adventures, will visit the museum for a 6 p.m. program that will school those attending on information about the variety of fossils that can be found under their shoes — everything from marine critters to Ice Age mammals.
After Gale’s talk, he will offer those attending a chance to participate in a treasure hunt. Children and adults can dig through a fossil bin, hoping to unearth a fossil they can take home.
The approximately 90-minute program is free and open to the public. Call 843-549-2303 for any additional information.
Visitors can also check out the museum’s collection of fossils or book a fossil-hunting excursion with Charleston Fossil Adventures. Edisto Beach State Park is among the fossil-hunting locations. For more information on CFA visit www.chsfossiladventures.com.
