The S.C. Hemp Summit will be held May 17 from noon-8 p.m. at Yonder Field, 180 Log Cabin Rd., Bowman.
In order to provide resources for S.C. farmers interested in learning more about hemp growth, production and processing, several local agencies are partnering together to present the first annual S.C. Hemp Summit.
The event is the brain-child of S.C. Hemp Farmers Association, the Orangeburg Area Small Business Development Center and the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce. Yonder Field in Bowman will host the event in its pavilion.
The main goal of providing this event for local S.C. farmers is to educate them on the hemp industry and potential uses for the crop.
The day will be filled with interesting speakers who have grown hemp in the initial license allowance phase to the scientists who study the plant and its impacts at S.C. State, Clemson and the University of S.C.
Vendors who process and sell items made from the crop will also attend to discuss their needs for local hemp resources as well.
