The Colleton County varsity volleyball team hosted Region 7-AAAA opponent Hilton Head High School Thursday Sept. 27. The Lady Cougars were defeated in three straight sets against the Seahawks 25-9, 25-18 and 25-16. The JV team also lost 25-10 and 25-6.
“This was more of a mental game for us,” said assistant coach Katelyn Willis. “We had a terrible game against them a few weeks ago and we just wanted to show them, and prove to ourselves, that we are better than that — and we did. We probably played our best game of the season last Thursday. The middles were blocking, which is something we have struggled with, and the team had some great hits. The girls were having fun and it was fun to coach them and watch them finally start to come alive. We came up short, yes, but it was a huge moral victory for us against the No. 1 team.”
The Lady Cougars are now 4-5 overall and 0-2 in Region 7-AAAA.
