Lady Cougar Cross-Country earns mid-week win

The Colleton County Cross Country team competed in the mid-week race held Aug. 29 at Fort Dorchester High School. The Lady Cougars finished in first place with a score of 38 in the five-team field which included Fort Dorchester (49), Ashley Ridge (74), Ashley Hall (56) and Palmetto Scholars Academy. The Cougar boys finished fourth with a score of 219.
“What a great race at Fort Dorchester,” said Coach George Smith. “First, it was really hot. Our young people did a great job in the blazing sun. The teams that competed were strong and the boys team had a big improvement from the previous weekend. Two races, two wins. The biggest competitions are ahead. Great job to our young people. I am amazed at the improvement both groups have made.”
In boys’ results: 20 – Blaine Cook 18:39; 43 – Hans Gabriel 20:20; 47 – Wyatt O’Quinn 20:44; 55 – Tyler Scites 21:54; 58 – Evan Stroble 22:36; 59 – Nathan Erwin 22:54; 64 – Raleigh Obenaus 24:46; 66 – Chance Palmer 25:44 and 70 – Graham Behie 30:29.
In girls’ results: 2 – Abigail Altman 19:45; 3 – Grayson Altman 19:46; 8 – Sierra Obenaus 20:21; 12 – Kayla Dantzler 21:24; 13 – Kensley Dantzler 21:27; 20 – Stacey Bennett 22:13; 30 – Lauren Reynolds 22:52; 37 – Grace Reynolds 24:15; 40 – Elizabeth McLaughlin 25:56; 42 – Faith Reynolds 27:02; 46 – Ashlyn Ballew 31:48; 47 – Jamiee Robertson 32:47.
The cross-country team will compete in the Clemson Sandhills Research Center race scheduled to be held Saturday Sept. 8.
