A prime piece of Walterboro’s commercial landscape is going to be on the market soon.
Rite Aid Pharmacy, which has long called a corner of Bells Highway and North Jefferies Boulevard intersection home, is set to close on Aug. 21. When Rite Aid Pharmacy sold a large number of its facilities to Walgreen’s, the sale included every Rite Aid in South Carolina.
The Walgreen’s business plan was to close every Rite Aid located within a mile of an existing Walgreen facility. Walterboro’s Walgreen falls easily within that one mile, located only a few thousand feet up the road at 1326 N. Jefferies Blvd.
Walgreen’s has already taken over operations of the pharmacy at Rite Aid and, when the business closes its doors on Aug. 21, all the customers who have had their prescriptions filled at Rite Aid will find their pharmacy records transferred to the local Walgreens.
