A dispute led to gunfire on Craig Street the evening of Aug. 18 and sent one man to the hospital.
Four men were reported in the parking lot of the Craig Street apartments about 9 p.m. when one became angry and retrieved his handgun.
The suspect then reportedly shot three times at one of the men as he ran from the parking lot and down Proctor Street. The suspect then jumped into a white pickup truck and fled the scene.
The victim was hit twice by bullets: once in the shoulder and once in the lower arm. He ran approximately two blocks to a residence in the 300 block of Lockhart Street where an ambulance crew found him sitting on the front porch of a relative’s home. His path took him out of county jurisdiction and into the Walterboro city limits.
The man was treated for his wounds and then transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Hospital in North Charleston. His wounds were not considered life threatening.
The initial 911 call sent the sheriff’s office personnel to the Chase Lounge at 500 Rivers Street. The apartment building is located behind the lounge.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office reports that the shooting victim was uncooperative.
