Man charged with murder in Acorn Street incident

On Aug. 2, at 9:34 p.m. the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jelani Rondell Aiken, 43, of Walterboro on murder charges in connection with an incident on Acorn Street earlier the same day. He was transported to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where he will be booked and await a bond hearing.
At 10:27 a.m. on Aug. 2, the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office responded to 87 Acorn Rd. in reference to a 911 call for a possible dispute. Another call came in at 10:59 a.m. saying a subject was running from the scene on Acorn Rd.
Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased male lying on the property. The Criminal Investigation Unit responded to the scene.
No further information will be given at this time as this is still an active investigation.
