YEMASSEE: Mrs. Rudine Youmans Fitts of Salkehatchie Road in Yemassee died early Friday morning July 20 at the residence of her son in Hendersonville.
Mrs. Fitts was born in Yemassee, April 20, 1923, a daughter of the late J. B. Youmans and Ola Zahler Youmans. She was a lifelong resident of Yemassee and was active in the community. Mrs. Fitts was a homemaker, a member of the Ridgeville Baptist Church and the widow of Captain Jack Fitts.
Surviving are: son: Jimmy Fitts and wife Kim of Hendersonville; grandchildren: Brent Fitts, Brandon Fitts and wife Christin, Kevin Stewart, Scott McCarthy and Tracy Stutler; two great-grandchildren: Charlie and Sally Fitts; and a daughter-in-law: Kay Lawton of Tutens Landing. Mrs. Fitts was predeceased by her husband and a son, Charles Anthony “Tony” Fitts.
Graveside services was at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 24 in the Zahler Cemetery near Yemassee, conducted by the Rev. Kirby Bunton and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.
Visitation was immediately following the services at the cemetery.
