The Colleton County Dixie Majors have been hard at work preparing for the start of the 2018 South Carolina Dixie Youth Majors Tournament. The Majors advanced to the state tournament after going 3-0 in District VIII with dominating wins over Allendale (13-2, 11-1) and Jasper County (18-1).
Opening ceremonies will be held Friday July 13 at Joe Riley Park, home of the Charleston Riverdogs, where players and coaches will be recognized in a parade of athletes and enjoy a dinner provided by North Charleston Recreation Department and the Charleston Riverdogs. Earlier in the afternoon, the Majors will have one player representing the team in a Home Run Derby to be held at Charleston Southern University Baseball Field at 2 p.m.
In game one of the state tournament, the Majors will face the winner of District VII, Summerville/Parks, at 10 a.m. on Saturday July 14 on Boston Field at Wescott Park in North Charleston.

Meet the Majors in this week’s edition of The Press and Standard.
