The Colleton County Angels earned a straight shot to the South Cartolina Dixie Youth X-Play State Tournament, based on lack of participation in the District VI tournament.
Colleton County will face the District II champion, Lancaster, at 10 a.m. Saturday July 7 at Oscar Frazier Park in Bluffton in round one of state competition. The eight-team bracket also includes Aynor, Blythewood, Bluffton, Sumter, Loris and Byrnes.
The Angels, coached by Tiff Condran, have been focused on defensive scenarios and hitting. They will enter Saturday’s competition without any game experience as a team, as they have not participated in scrimmages and had no competition in the District VI tournament.
“We are a relatively young team, but I am looking forward to seeing just what each of these amazing girls have to give,” said Condran. “I expect our talent at the plate to be a huge advantage.” Condran will rely on pitching from Alex Green, Catherine Crawford, Rylee Harrelson and Sydney Stivender.
The Angels roster includes Alex Green, Caroline Herndon, Sydney Crosby, JaNay Manigo, Catherine Crawford, Brayli Stanfield, Rylee Harrelson, Harley Godwin, Sydney Stivender, Jhyrika Brown, Ja’Meisha Stevens and Addison Kellam. Condran will be assisted by Mallory Crawford and Frankie Kellam.
