In a 7-0 shut-out over Dorchester Academy, Meredith Ware threw a complete game, allowing just four hits and recording seven strikeouts. Ware helped her effort with a double in the top of the first.
The Lady Hawks amassed 13 hits in the game including a 3-4 with 3-RBI’s appearance by Langley Harter at the plate. Taylor Tomedolskey was 3-3 and scored twice while Weslin Jones was 2-4 with an RBI and scored once. Elizabeth Anne Dean, Brittany Brownlee and Haley Bootle had hits in the contest.
Anne Garrett Carter earned the win in the final conference game of the regular season, allowing two runs on one hit over six and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Carter also homered in the top of the fifth inning.
Harter’s bat continued to be hot in a 2-3 with 2-RBI’s day at the plate. Mollie Warren also was 2-3, including a homerun, with an RBI, and scored once. Ware, Carter, Brownlee and Bootle each had a hit-a-piece.
“Timely hitting and Anne Garrett’s solid pitching won the game against Thomas Heyward,” said Coach Gabby Bedford. “Meredith had a big base hit early in the game that allowed us to go up 2-1. Anne Garrett and Mollie also hit two bombs as well.”
As of press time, the playoff schedule for the SCISA State Softball Tournament had not been released.
