The Colleton County Lady Cougar Softball team was scheduled to host St. James High School Monday, April 30 at Rusty Adams Field in an elimination game of the SCHSL District V Playoffs. The Lady Cougars defeated the Lady Sharks 7-1 in round one of the playoffs held April 26 on the road before losing 1-0 to Chapin on Saturday. Saturday’s loss at Chapin was on a highly questionable play at home plate in the top of the seventh inning.

Monday’s rematch would set the stage for the Lady Cougars to advance to the District V Championship where they would again face Chapin Wednesday, May 2 (away).

In game one of the playoffs, the Lady Cougars rolled over St. James High School in a 7-1 victory on the road. Whitley Weathers allowed one earned run in a complete seven-inning effort, striking out one and issuing one walk. Karson Hiott was 2-4 at the plate, scoring once. Hallie and Hannah Robertson each went 1-3 with 2-RBI’s and scored once on the day. Victoria Brewington, Weathers, Dakari Gant and Ashley Savage had a hit-a-piece.

Weathers was masterful in a pitcher’s duel against Chapin in round two held Saturday, April 28 on the road. She allowed one run on four hits, striking out two and walking one in the complete game effort. Colleton County recorded five errors on defense in the loss. Hallie Robertson and Weathers each went 2-3 at the plate and Brewington had a triple early in the game.

Colleton County finished the regular season 12-8 overall and 6-4 in Region 8-AAAA.
