Colleton County Cougar quarterback Craig Grant Jr. was recognized Tuesday Nov. 7 for his selection to the 2017 Touchstone Energy Cooperative North-South Bowl to be held Dec. 9 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach.
Craig Grant finished with a career passing record of 5,325 passing yards and 52 touchdowns. He will hold multiple records in the history book for Colleton County including:
Most Touchdown Passes in One Game – Six vs. Beaufort High School
Most Touchdowns in a Season – 40 touchdowns
Most Passing Touchdowns in a Season – 28 touchdowns
Most Passing Yards in a Single Season – 2,952 yards
Most Passing Yards in a Single Game – 472 yards vs. Beaufort
Most Individual Total Yards in a Single Season – 3,600 total passing and rushing yards
“Coaches reviewed nearly 400 nominations to come up with the final roster — 44 players on the South squad and 44 players on the North,” said Keith Richardson, co-coordinator of the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl in a press release dated Oct. 23 from the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina. “We’re really excited about the players selected this year. Not only are they outstanding athletes, they’re also young men of character.”
Jet Turner of Broome High School will lead the North team, while Nate Thompson of Carvers Bay will lead the South squad.
