WALTERBORO – Frederick Raymond Hegarty, known by many as “Fred”, age 71, entered into rest Friday afternoon Nov. 17, 2017, at his home in Walterboro.
Born Sept. 10, 1946, in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late Harry A. Hegarty and the late Jean Marie Hill Hegarty. He was a retired employee of Greyhound Express after 20 years of service and was the owner of Custom Tile Setting Plus, having completed numerous kitchen and baths around the Walterboro area. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. He loved the outdoors and fishing. He enjoyed the boy scouts with his son, Les. He also loved spending time with friends and family.
Surviving are: his wife, Lana Packwood Hegarty; a son, Leslie (Sandy) Hegarty of Hanover, Pa.; a daughter, Karen (D.J.) James of Willards, Md.; grandsons, David Akers (Melanie) and Cory (Christina) Hegarty; granddaughters, Serena O’Neil and Carmen Hegarty; and great-grandchildren, Kyo, Arianna, Brittany, and John Paul. He is also survived by his brothers, Skip (Dawn) Hegarty, Ali (Glenda) Hegarty, Tim (Iman) Hegarty, Alan (Roxanne) Hegarty; his sister, Kathy Bouadjemi; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Hegarty and Paul Hegarty; and a son, James Porter.
