The Colleton County Cross-Country girls’ team competed in the South Carolina High League AAAA State Championships on Saturday Nov. 4 at the Sandhills Research Center in Columbia. The Lady Cougars finished 13th out of 20 teams competing in the championships.
“Well, the season is now over,” said Coach George Smith. “It was a different kind of year. We had our ups and downs. But in the end, the team finished 13th in the state race. For 10 years, we never made it to state; now we are a regular and have finished 13th two years in a row. Thanks go out to all the young people who ran this year and to all the parents, relatives, and friends who supported this outstanding group of young people. It was a pleasure to be their coach.”
Individual finishes are as follows:
22:04.00 Kayla Dantzler 64th
22:22.00 Abigail Altman 78th
22:32.00 Grayson Altman 81st
22:38.00 Kensley Dantzler 83rd
