Wildfire teams compete in 18th Carolina Cup | Sports | The Press and Standard

The Walterboro Wildfire U-10 Warriors and U-12 Hot Shots recently competed in the 18th Annual Carolina Cup hosted by the South Carolina United FC in Irmo.
Going 2-1 on the day, the Warriors earned wins against the SCUFC Boys Navy (12-0) and the 08 North Augusta team (3-1). They took a loss against the PSA United 09 team (5-2), with both goals scored by Michael Witkin.
Against the SCUFC team, goals were made by Michael Ingram, Alex Fargnoli, Emerson Melgar and Timmons Muckenfuss. Melgar and Witkin scored goals in the win over North Augusta.
The U-12 Hot Shots went 0-3-1 in the event. Kaeden Wiggins scored both goals in the 8-2 loss to the SCUFC 06 team. In a rematch against the SCUFC O6, the game ended in a 4-4 tie for the Hot Shots with goals being scored by Brantley Padgett, Colson Varnadoe and Kaeden Wiggins. They were shutout in losses to the Scorpions (9-0) and to the Sumter 06 Cobras (4-0).
