Colleton County High School enjoyed Spirit Week before holding the culminating 2017 homecoming activities at halftime of Friday evening’s region football game against Beaufort High School.
The Spirit Stick was awarded to the senior class following a tie-breaker with the junior class for the most spirit during Friday’s pep rally. The Class of 2020 finished in third place and the Class of 2021 was fourth.
The student council sponsored a paint soccer event in September at the Walterboro Soccer Club field with approximately 50 students participating. In addition, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes held a gathering Sept. 4 with around 25 faculty and students attending.
Homecoming results for the five competitions held throughout the week at CCHS were as follows: Penny war – Class of 2021, raising approximately $350 used to pay for homecoming expenses; banner competition – Class of 2018; dress out – Class of 2018; sidewalk chalk – Class of 2019; pep rally skits – Class of 2020.
Macie Stone was crowned Miss Homecoming during Friday’s halftime ceremonies. Macie is the daughter of Richard and Robin Stone of Cottageville. She plays soccer for the Lady Cougars, is a member of Student Council and served as the president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). She serves on the CCHS Prom Committee, participates in CCHS Chorus and is a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
The homecoming court included: Hannah Robertson – Miss Freshman; Tierra Samuels – Miss Sophomore; Kasheyonna David – Miss Junior; and Jalasia Barnett – Miss Senior.
Rounding out the homecoming candidates were Lindsey Barnes, Ashlan McDonald, Brianna Sauls, Stephanie Hooker, Niasia Stephens, Jakiya Frazier and Hallie Robertson.
The following CCHS Student Council students helped plan last week’s events along with their advisor, Becky Goodwin: Garrett Tyler, student body president; Gracie Pierce, Riley Phillips, Rachael Dandridge and Macie Stone.
