The Colleton Prep volleyball team split region contests this week with Hilton Head Christian and St. Andrews School to move to 8-3 overall and 3-3 in Region IV-AA.
Against Hilton Head Christian on Tuesday Sept. 26, the Lady Hawks lost in three sets 25-17, 25-16 and 25-10. Langley Harter led with seven kills and four aces. Weslin Jones had five kills and three aces, while Ella Nolte had four kills and two aces.
The Lady Hawks picked up a win against St. Andrews in three sets 25-16, 25-17 and 25-10. Nolte had 13 kills and three aces in the game. Harter had eight kills, five aces and two blocks, and Jones had four kills and three aces. Jessica Hughes had nine aces and a kill and Emily Wilson had three aces.
“Hilton Head Christian was a powerful opponent,” said Coach Ashley Finney. “They have hitters all over the court and can really put the ball down. We played about as good as we could defensively, but still took the loss. It takes our offense time to get going and that is something we must work on.”
The junior varsity squad had a scrimmage against Colleton County High’s JV team last week and won 25-13 and 25-19.
