USC Salkehatchie held Indian Madness Friday evening where they introduced the 2017-18 team to local fans. The Indians held an inter-squad scrimmage and a dunk contest, along with signing posters and hosting a meet-and-greet with the fans.
In the Maroon vs. Grey scrimmage, the Maroon team earned bragging rights in the 85-83 decision.
Trey Potts and Ryle Owens were the two finalists in the dunk contest, who were forced into a dunk-off after a tie. In the crowd decision dunk-off, Owens captured the title.
“Marques Sumner, Deshaw Andrews, Reggie Wright, Trey Potts, Colin Young, Ryle Owens, AJ Brooks, Pat Eugene, and Jeremiah Neubia were all players who played really well in scrimmage,” said Coach Jake Williams, who is in his first season at the helm of Indian hoops.
“We finished with our guys signing posters and hanging out with the fans,” he said. “We think we had about 100 fans there and gave out over 100 posters.
“I am very thankful for all of the support we received from the community for our first Indian Madness,” said Williams. “Our guys love the support and excitement around our program. It’s something we want to continue to build on. This is a special place.”
