The Colleton Soil & Water Conservation District is sponsoring its annual Poster and Essay Contest for students in public, private, and home schools in Colleton County.
The topic for this year’s contest is “Watersheds – Our Water, Our Home.” Watersheds supply water for drinking and recreation, irrigation and manufacturing, and wildlife and bird habitat. It is essential that each person adopt good water conservation habits to keep water resources safe and productive now and for future generations.
The poster contest is for students in special education and grades K-5. The poster contest is a class project with winners at each grade level receiving a cash award for their class.
The essay contest is for students in grades 6-8. The essay contest is an individual project with winners at each grade level receiving first place, second place and third place awards.
Winners will be invited to the district’s annual banquet in April to receive their awards.
All contest entries must be turned in to the Colleton Conservation District Office, 531 Robertson Blvd., Suite B, on or before Jan. 10 by 4 p.m.
For information or copy of contest guidelines, call the Colleton Soil & Water Conservation District Office at 549-1821, ext. 101.
