The Colleton County Middle School Lady Junior Cougars hosted the Hardeeville Hurricanes Monday Sept. 18.
The Junior Cougars lost 3-2 in a best-of-five series.
“In the first set, Jewel Chambers led us in points from her serving,” said Coach Marrissa Jones. “The girls fought hard but lost the first set 19-25. The second set told a different story, with us winning 25-6. Toni Wilson and Bethany Monroe were our lead scorers. The rollercoaster ride began and the Hurricanes took the third set 25-19. As the ride continued, the Junior Cougars earned a 25-8 win in the fourth set, with Bethany Monroe as the leading scorer. The Jr. Cougars played very well and never gave up.”

The CCMS Jr. Cougar Football team traveled to Hardeeville to face the Hurricane Thursday Sept. 21. The Junior Cougars were trailing 8-0 when the game was called due to inclement weather. “The kids came out and played well,” said Coach Keivy Rowes. “It was a defensive game. Chris Hiers, Josh McClendon, Amare Daniels and Jackie White were some of the guys who stood out.”
