The Colleton County High School Band of Blue placed 2nd overall and 2nd in class 5A at 2017 Wando High School “Lowcountry Invitational Contest” on Saturday Oct. 7.
The Band of Blue placed second with an excellent rating score of 81.4 and was second overall out of 15 bands!
Placing first was Summerville High School with a 86.175 with Ashley Ridge High School in third with a 80.850.
The 2017 Band of Blue is performing its show “The Lost Boy.”
The band directors are Tom Finigan, Nick Infinger, Gary Stroupe and Cathy Meshach. Guard and visual instructor is William Thomas and percussion instructor is Josh Craven.
Graduate assistants include Thomas Finigan, Eric Ferguson, Chakeira Allen, Hailey Binall, Cassie Headden and Katie Hudson.
Support staff includes drill design by Bob Buckner with music arrangements by Frank Sullivan and Bill Locklear.
The drum majors are Miriam Yale, Hunter Pinckney and Megan Newton

Quarter Masters: Jim Bunton, Nick Jackson, Caleb Grinberg, Joel Crosby, Jacob Havers, Logan Bailey, Bryan Ketchum, William Finigan and Tre Ferguson
Band Sergeants: Tylan Gant, Kevin Morales, Bailey Crosby, Deondre Way, Michaela Bennett, Willow Roberts
The Band of Blue will travel to Rincon, Ga., to the Effingham County Coastal Empire Contest this Saturday Oct. 14. There are 14 bands competing at the Georgia event. The Band of Blue performs at 7:20 ap.m. Awards will be at 8 p.m.
The Band of Blue is having several fundraisers to help with the cost of running a championship band program.
The Band of Blue is selling bed sheets and will start its annual fruit sale later this week. The band will also have a mattress sale fundraiser in November and hold its annual turkey shoots.
