The fourth annual Walk & Wag will be Saturday starting at 11 a.m. in the Walterboro Wildlife Sanctuary and the county parking lot.
“Each year it has grown and we are looking forward to an amazing turn out this year. The weather should be great,” said Sarah Miller of FoCCAS.
Several sponsor booths will be set up. and FoCCAS will be selling raffle tickets for a XBox 300 and a “Pamper Me and My Dog” basket. Tickets are $3 each or two for $5. The drawing will be at the end of the event on Saturday.
“Going to the Dogs Band” will provide entertainment.
They will also have a sales table and will be selling tickets for a 52” television to be raffled at their Howloween Extravaganza on Oct. 14 at Stegall Auction House (all proceeds will benefit FoCCAS).
There will be swimming pools for the dogs to cool off if the weather is warm.
T-shirts have been delivered to all sponsors, and participants can purchase a t-shirt at Island Tan or at the event on Saturday for $15. Everyone wearing a 2017 Walk & Wag T-shirt will get a free lunch. Lunches can be purchased for $3 without a t-shirt. 2018 CCAS/FoCCAS Alumni Calendars can also be pre-ordered.
Walk & Wag is a family-friendly, dog-friendly event. Dogs are not a necessity but “we hope the community comes out for the fun. We love to see so many people bringing their dogs and enjoying the day with other animal lovers,” Miller said.
There will be a long and a short walk through the Walterboro Wildlife Sanctuary at 11:45 a.m.
The money raised will go to FoCCAS’ three missions: Community Spay/Neuter programs, Education, and Rescue/Adoption.
Audra Hudson and Jeannette Neal organized the event.
“FoCCAS is always amazed at the community support for this event. We have 62 corporate and individual sponsorships for Walk & Wag. We can’t wait to see everyone on Saturday,” she said.
