The Town of Yemassee will hold the annual Shrimp Festival at the Yemassee Municipal Complex on Wednesday-Saturday Sept. 13-16.
The festival started in 1993, when residents of Yemassee requested Mayor Jack Moore allow the town to host a shrimp festival that they hoped would turn into an annual event. Through the hard work of those residents’ volunteer efforts, the festival has followed the evolution of shrimp baiting and become a top event.
This year will be the 24th year of fun and games, arts and crafts, food and the celebration of the history and pride in Yemassee for everything shrimp in “Yemassee, the Gateway to the Lowcountry.”
