The Colleton Prep Lady Hawks improved their record to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in Region IV-AA following a win over the St. Andrews Lions on Tuesday Sept. 5 on the road.
It took five sets, including a tie-breaker, for the Lady Hawks to earn the win going 26-24 (W), 25-19 (W), 25-22 (L), 25-23 (L) and 15-10 (W).
Weslin Jones had eight aces and eight kills in the match and Langley Harter recorded 14 kills and five aces. Ella Nolte had six aces and 10 kills, while Emily Wilson had four kills and two aces. Jessica Hughes had five aces and four kills and Hannah Drawdy had three aces.
“We got the win, but it did not come easy,” said Coach Ashley Finney. “You could tell we had a long break off for Labor Day. We just didn’t play to our potential, but we fought hard to hang on and earn our first region win.”
Colleton Prep’s region game against Hilton Head last Thursday Sept. 7 was rescheduled for October 16 due to potential threat of Hurricane Irma. They will face John Paul II Thursday Sept. 14 on the road in a region match.
