Reverend Gerald B. Lyles, age 85, of Soperton died Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

Reverend Lyles lived most of his life in Treutlen County and was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Laura Mae Reese Lyles; son, Johnny Michael Lyles; grandsons, Johnny Lavon Lyles and Jason Lyles Sellers; great-grandson, Brendan Chase McCoy; and sisters, Jackie Strickland, Nadine McNabb, and Bobbie Jean Gillis. He was retired from GFF, Soperton, and was a minister of the Holiness faith. He served thirteen and one-half years in the National Guard Reserves.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Barbara Ann Strickland Lyles; children, Dottie (Mindell) Rogers of Adrian, Kay Sellers, Kathy Sellers, Jerry (Carlene) Lyles, John Alex (Sheila Marie) Lyles II, and Timothy Gerald Lyles (Lacey Hall), all of Soperton; sisters, Mable (Otha) Beasley of Tarrytown and Diane Scott of Adrian; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Friday, September 22, with Reverend Conway Jones and Reverend Jack Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Kea’s Cemetery, Emanuel County.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Gerald Loren (Lolo) Lyles, Bobby Lyles, Kyle Lyles, Joshua Lyles, Danny Earl Sellers, Tony (Grover) Lyles, Jerry Lyles, Jr., Jay Rogers, and Kevin Lyles.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as an honorary escort.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
