Following a bye week, the Colleton County varsity football team is set to begin competition in Region 8-AAAA this Friday evening at home against Cane Bay High School (4-1). The Cougars enter Friday evening at 2-3 overall following a 48-12 win over Hardeeville-Ridgeland two weeks ago.
“Cane Bay offers a formidable task,” said Coach Coby Peeler. “They have very good athletic skill guys with legit speed and they run the option well. We will have to play disciplined, assignment football. We have focused on us last week, just improving what we control. This week, we will gear that more specifically toward Cane Bay.”
Friday evening’s home game is Cougar Recreation Ball Night.
“We are doing free admission for recreation football players in their team jerseys as well as the All-Star football team members and their coaches,” said Leon Hammond, athletic director. “They will be meeting me at the field house at 6 p.m. The older kids will tour the locker room and participate in team prayer with the varsity football team.”
The All-Star cheerleaders/Spirit Squads in team attire and their coaches will be admitted free as well. They will meet with the Assistant AD Jakan Richardson at 6:30 p.m. and will be on field with the varsity cheerleaders for the team entrance.
A designated area will be available for both players and cheerleaders to sit together in the stands.
Parents and others will still pay regular admission.
