Colleton Prep picked up a non-region win over Williamsburg Academy Friday evening on the road. The War Hawks led 6-0 at halftime, then pulled ahead in the second half for a final score of 26-14.
The War Hawk defense had a stellar performance in Friday’s game, applying pressure throughout the game on the Stallion’s quarterback.
Fisher Jackson scored fourth and goal on a quarterback keeper during Colleton Prep’s first offensive series of the game.
In third-quarter action, Dylan Kinard recovered a Williamsburg fumble allowing the War Hawks to take possession and Jackson to score.
Successfully electing to go for a two-point conversion, CPA jumped ahead 14-0.
Williamsburg answered after missed assignments on kick-off coverage allowed the Stallions to drive downfield and score on a short pass play, leaving CPA ahead 14-7.
As the third quarter expired, Jackson was stopped at the 4-yard line following a long run. He then connected with Riley Smoak in the top of the fourth to put Colleton Prep on top 20-7.
With 5:00 minutes remaining in the game, Jackson hit Cameron Hiers for a long reception, and then scored on a keeper for his (Jackson’s) fourth touchdown of the game.
The Stallions scored once more in the game for a final score of 26-14.
Colleton Prep moved to 1-1 on the season and will have a bye this week. They will face Palmetto Christian in their first region game of the year Friday Sept. 8 at home.
