The ARK, Alzheimer’s Family Support Services, is offering its free Powerful Tools for Caregivers series in Walterboro starting in September. Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational program designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves while caring for a relative or friend who has a chronic illness.
The class is 10-11:30 a.m. each Wednesday from Sept. 13 to Oct. 18 at the Colleton County Memorial Library, 600 Hampton St. in Walterboro. The class is taught by certified class leaders.
The class is free (donations accepted), but registration is required by Sept. 8 as class size is limited. Call 843-670-3317 or visit to register.
This program helps family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings better, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions, and locate helpful resources. Attendees will benefit from this class whether they are helping a parent, spouse, or friend who lives at home, in a nursing home, or across the country.
