Colleton Prep’s JV softball team defeated Thomas Heyward Academy 14-4 in an away game held Tuesday April 4 to improve its overall record to 14-2-1.
Rachel Wright earned the complete game victory in four innings of work. She struck out four in the contest and helped her own effort by reaching base in all four plate appearances and scoring each time.
Ella Nolte was 3-for-4 on the day. Linley Jones and Jessica Hughes both recorded two hits.
“Offensively, we did have productive at-bats, even when not recording hits,” said Tiger Martin, CPA’s head JV coach. “We did not have a single strikeout in the game. Defensively, we didn’t play our best game with all four of their runs being unearned. Still, it was nice to get a convincing win over Thomas Heyward. This may not be their best team, but they have a rich history and any time you can get a win against them, it’s a confidence builder.”
CPA was scheduled to play Robert E. Lee (away) Monday April 17, Dorchester Academy (away) Wednesday April 19 and host Thomas Heyward Thursday April 20.
