THE SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN BOYS BLUEGRASS BAND will give a concert at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 12898 Round O Rd., Round O, on Saturday April 8 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Admission is free. A love offering will be accepted. The old-style bluegrass band plays everything from Bill Monroe to James King, mixing traditional and bluegrass gospel. Formed in 2006, the group was encouraged by the late Bill Wells, owner of Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor in West Columbia, where the group opened for his band in several shows, including the Rhythm on the River concert series in 2007-2008. They were also instrumental in the formation of The Congaree Bluegrass Festival in Cayce. Band members include Danny Creamer, guitar and lead vocals; Ben Wooten, dobro and vocals; John Barkley, fiddle and vocals; Rusty Zornes, bass and vocals; Craig Armstrong, banjo and vocals; and Reese Wooten, guitar. Benny Osment is sound technician and merchandise manager.
