Senior, Anthony Simmons delivered a sacrifice fly ball to right field in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring Nick Padgett from third base and sealing Colleton Prep’s 1-0 win over Thomas Heyward on Tuesday April 4. CPA’s win improved them to 8-5 overall and 6-3 in Region 4-AA.
Due to inclement weather, the War Hawks’ region game against Hilton Head Prep scheduled for Monday April 3 was postponed until a later date.
Kyle Hooker earned the win against the Rebels, in a complete game effort. Hooker allowed just four hits in the game, issuing one walk and striking out nine of the 29 batters faced.
Nick Padgett had the crucial bunt in the top of the seventh. He then stole two bases to put himself in scoring position before Anthony Simmons delivered on a sacrifice fly to right field to allow him to tag up and race home. Chris Reeves and Lawson Griffith also provided hits in the game.
The War Hawks will face Holly Hill, St. Andrews, Dorchester Academy and Thomas Heyward following spring break.
