The annual rabies vaccination clinics continue in Colleton County on Saturdays April 8 and 15 at the following locations:
Saturday April 8
8:30-10:30 a.m., Ice machine parking lot across from Bells Elementary, DeLoach Vet Clinic;
9-10:30 a.m., Cottageville Elementary, 648 Peirce Rd., Cottageville, Walterboro Animal Hospital;
10:45 a.m.-noon, Ruffin Community Center, 7745 Ruffin Rd., Ruffin, DeLoach Vet Clinic;
11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Church’s Chicken parking lot, 15600 Charleston Hwy., Jacksonboro, Walterboro Animal Hospital;
12:15-1 p.m., Williams Fire Station, 245 Joel Padgett Dr., Williams, DeLoach Vet Clinic;
1:30-2:30 p.m., Green Pond Fire Station, 503 Fire Station Rd., Green Pond, Walterboro Animal Hospital;
2-3 p.m., Lodge Fire Station, 8667 Lodge Hwy., Lodge, DeLoach Vet Clinic;
3:30-4:30 p.m. Old Health Center, Smoaks, DeLoach Vet Clinic.
Saturday April 15
10-11 a.m., Breland’s Country Store, 12595 Lowcountry Hwy., Ruffin, Walterboro Animal Hospital;
Noon-1 p.m., Smoaks Town Hall, 176 New St., Smoaks, Walterboro Animal Hospital.
Fees vary by location but will not exceed $10/pet. Dogs must be on a leash and cats in a box or carrier.
The S.C. Rabies Control Act requires all dogs and cats have a current rabies vaccination. For the majority of vaccines, the minimum age to vaccinate is 12 weeks old.
Upon vaccination, the pet should wear the serially numbered rabies tag provided by the veterinarian around its neck. The vet will also supply a certificate of vaccination.
