The Colleton County Lady Cougar Softball team shut out the Hilton Head Seahawks 15-0 Tuesday April 4 to improve its record to 10-6 overall and 4-4 in region play. Due to inclement weather, the region game versus Berkeley was postponed until after spring break, leaving the Lady Cougars with four games next week.
Whitley Weathers and Lauren DeWitt combined in the circle for Colleton County. Weathers pitched one inning, allowing no hits and striking out one. DeWitt entered and went the distance, allowing one hit across three innings of work, issuing one walk and striking out six.
Brittney Risher was 1-for-3 in the game with a 2-RBI double and scored twice. Hallie Robertson was 2-for-3 on the day, with an RBI and crossed home plate once. Karson Hiott was 1-for-1 with 2-RBI’s double and scored twice. Also collecting hits for Colleton County were Victoria Brewington, MaKayla Hunt, Jamoni Sanders, Jessica McDowell, Whitley Weathers and Ashlyn Rawls.
“Overall, we are continuing to improve and working hard,” said Coach Rusty Adams. “I like how we are playing right now. Whitley Weathers and Lauren DeWitt have both done a good job for us in the circle. If we can win out the rest of our conference schedule, we will finish third. It will be a tough week with four games when we return from spring break.”
