JV Lady Cougars pick up region wins | Sports | The Press and Standard

The Colleton County JV Softball team picked up region wins last week over Cane Bay and Hilton Head and tied Beaufort to improve its overall record to 5-5-1 and 5-1-1 in Region 8-AAAA.
Against Cane Bay, the JV team earned a 10-5 victory in five innings. Sydney Howard was credited with the win in the circle, allowing five earned runs on nine hits, issuing three walks and striking out three. Howard also helped her effort by going 2-for-3 with an RBI double and scoring once.
Karson Hiott was 3-for-3 on the day, with an RBI and scoring twice. Ashley Savage was 2-for-2 with an RBI and crossed home three times. Shamorie Overton was 2-for-3 with 2-RBI’s and scoring once. Neisha Robinson was 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Colleton County out-hit Beaufort 15-8 in the March 31 contest, but found themselves trailing heading into the sixth inning. The JV team managed to score two timely runs before time expired, leaving them tied with the Eagles in a 6-6 finish. Howard was credited with five innings of work, allowing six earned runs on eight hits, issuing five walks and striking out five Eagles.
Adriene Jenkins, Savage and Howard each had three hits in the contest.
In a 15-3 win over Hilton Head Tuesday April 4, the JV team scored 15 runs on 10 hits. Howard picked up the win, allowing three earned runs on two hits, issuing two walks and striking out six. At the plate, Howard was 2-for-2 with 2-RBI’s.
Jenkins led the JV Lady Cougars at the plate going 3-for-4 with an RBI and scoring three times. Also collecting hits for Colleton County were Bailey Crosby, Robinson and Savage.
