SMOAKS –Mrs. Ella Hanes Frye, wife of Franklin Frye, passed away at her home Saturday surrounded by her loving family, under the care of hospice. She was 80.
Mrs. Frye was born in St. James, Missouri November 2, 1936 a daughter of Logan and Oma Hollingsworth Hanes. She was a homemaker who was devoted to her husband and children. She was a true Christian, and was a member of the Living Church of God, where she served as a Deaconess.
In addition to her husband of sixty years, she is survived by two daughters: Maureen Smith (Steve) of Smoaks, and Rebecca Grygier (Steve) of Edinboro, PA. There are nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three children: Diana Frye Wood, Dale Frye, and Kerry Frye. She was the last of ten children born to her parents.
Graveside funeral services was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 in the Southend Cemetery in Bamberg, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
