Colleton Prep cruised to a 23-0 region win over Bethesda Academy last Thursday evening at home to sit at 5-4 overall and 3-2 in SCISA Region 4-AA.
Senior Nick Padgett tossed the no-hitter for the War Hawks striking out seven. The War Hawks lost earlier in the week to non-region opponent Dorchester Academy and region foe Hilton Head Christian.
In the 23-0 defeat of Bethesda, Nick Padgett pitched three complete innings in the shutout win. In Padgett’s no-hitter, he issued one walk and struck out seven batters.
The War Hawks had six hits in the win over Bethesda and were awarded 16 bases on ***** in the contest. Reeves went 1-for-1 in the game with a double and 2-RBI’s, scoring twice.
In the 9-2 loss against the Dorchester Academy Raiders, eighth-grader Kyle Hooker and senior Wil Hughes combined on the mound. Hooker lasted four-and-a-third innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits, issuing four walks and striking out four. In relief, Hughes allowed four earned runs on seven hits, issuing one walk and striking out two.
Chris Reeves led the offensive effort, going 2-for-4 on the night. The War Hawks only other hit in the game came from Joe Bryan.
Reeves took the 9-2 loss for CPA against Hilton Head Christian the following night. Reeves tossed four-and-two-thirds innings, allowing six runs, nine hits and striking out five. Hooker was 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI, along with Nick Padgett who was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Collecting hits in the game were Bryan and Anthony Simmons.
CPA was scheduled to host region opponent Hilton Head Prep Monday March 27, then travel to Bethesda on Wednesday March 30 and host Hilton Head Christian on Friday March 31.
