A Walterboro man was arrested on multiple counts when he was taken into custody on March 22.
Lawrence Edwins Reid, 38, of Walterboro was arrested on six counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and four counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor following an investigation by the South Carolina Attorney General Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Homeland Security, both members of the task force, assisted in the investigation.
Task Force investigators, assisted by deputies from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, collected evidence and took Reid into custody on March 22.
The six third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor charges were filed on March 22 after investigators seized Reid’s computer and allegedly discovered sexually explicit material involving minors.
The four counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor charges were the result of Reid’s alleged use of his computer to obtain child pornography in mid-July.
Each charge is punishable by a prison term of up to 10 years. The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office will handle the prosecution of the charges against Reid.
