JV Lady Cougar Softball battles in Spring Bash | Sports | The Press and Standard

Colleton County’s JV softball team participated in the Spring Bash Softball Tournament held this past weekend in Summerville. The young Lady Cougars lost three straight games in the tournament, falling to Summerville (14-2), Cane Bay (9-6) and Wando (5-4).
Earlier in the week, the JV lost a non-region game against Bamberg-Ehrhardt 11-9 at home. Sydney Howard took the loss for Colleton County in the circle, issuing five walks and striking out five. Shamorie Overton went 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and scoring once. J’Nay McClain was 2-for-3 with 2-RBI’s and scored once. Ashley Savage had a triple in the game.
Against region opponent Berkeley on Tuesday March 21, Colleton County suffered a 16-1 loss. Howard took the loss for the JV team, working all four innings in the circle. Dezyrea Woodbury was 2-for-2 at the plate and Ashley Savage was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
The JV Lady Cougars are 3-5 overall and 3-1 in region competition. They will face Cane Bay and Beaufort this week as they enter the second half of their region schedule.
