Colleton County’s JV Lady Cougar Soccer team earned a 3-0 win over Berkeley Friday March 24 on the road to put them 1-4 in region play.
Against Beaufort Friday March 17, the Lady Cougars lost 3-1. Sierra Obernaus scored Colleton County’s only goal in the game.
“We held them to 1-0 at the half,” said Coach Mary Kathryn Priester. “In the second half, they scored on a penalty kick and then were able to put in another one in before the game was over.”
The Lady Cougars were shutout 9-0 Tuesday March 21 against Hilton Head.
“They put five in on us in the first half and four in the second half,” said Coach Priester. “This was a good learning experience for the girls. We were able to see our weakest areas and we focused on that during practice before we faced Berkeley.”
In the 3-0 win over Berkeley Friday evening, Kaylee Reimel scored in the first half on an assist by Dorothy Dessoye. Obernaus added two goals in the second half for the Lady Cougars with an assist by Anne Mathis Thomas.
“This was the best game we have played all season,” said Priester. “Coach Van Hulst and I made adjustments to our defense and it worked well for this game. The girls began stringing passes together and attacking Berkeley’s side of the field. Zy Johnson had some great saves for us as well.”
